John Stonedwell
@Totemic thank you very much man. I hold your opinion in high regard. I was thinking of perhaps dropping a Royal Queen Seed or 2 and include some of your feminised seeds. And I see you have them on special so I will maybe switch up the lineup a bit. I was thinking of the Palomino and Tortoni as they have that epic Chocolope NL of yours in the lineage.

Totally in agreement!! Very excited for the 2 Rippers.. they have some good strong genetics I ran the Washing Machine by Ripper in the previous grow. She did everything basically twice as much than the other 5 plants. Loved HST, grew like crazy, amazing bud structure, bud to leaf ratio, pungent smell etc. So a keen eyed buddy of mine took a cutting and made her a mother and this is what he came up with... I helped him with the trim a week ago.

They are also crossed with the In House Genetics Slurricane and Blunicorn so should be some nice sparkle from the trichomes too. I think dropping some of the Royal Queen seeds is not a bad idea, grow them next time around.

So it's sorted then, next run will be Totemic and the rest. Thanx for the feedback bro! Much appreciated!
John Stonedwell
Morning folks. So at the start of week 6 of flower I can already start seeing the buds fattening up real nicely. Tricome development is also on the increase. The smell is also quite distinct and leaves me with a smile.. It is clear for the flowering progress that I will most probably do a staggered harvest. Purple Queen has a recommended flowering time of 56 days/8 weeks but I will keep an eye and probably take her to 9 weeks. And my special clone might go up to 11 weeks. Upper Cut seems to be setting the pace with Tricome, smell and bud development. Oni hit it out of the park with this strain. I am quite excited to wrap up this grow and savour all the different flavours (and truth be told I am itching for my next grow) Wedding Gelato Old School Purple Queen Special Clone Chocolate Haze Upper Cut Glookies Clones Top View Tent Front View Tent Side View
John Stonedwell
Hi folks. So 6 and a half weeks in and the buds are starting to shape real nicely. The size of the buds are really impressive and I am hoping some so extra weight over the next couple of weeks. John Stonedwell
Hi folks. Not really update time yet but when I checked up on the tent I was immensely surprised with the tricome on one of the Upper Cut clones in the tent. John Stonedwell
Hi folks. So starting week 8 tomorrow and counting the days for the first chop. The terpene profile of the ladies are really starting to pull through and some very unique smells coming from the tent. Buds are starting to fatten up and some wicked nitrogen deficiency pulling through on most plants. I might switch up my nutes next grow and go with BioGrow instead of Seagro. John Stonedwell
Hi folks. So it's almost time for my last update on this diary. I am currently 8 and a half weeks into flower and will most probably start harvesting this weekend. I am using the breeder guideline for flowering time as well as my overall perception of bud development, calyx structure and pistils. Wanna try and do it old school without the microscope and tricome assessment. With the naked eye you can still see a progressive change of colour. On another note I found out that my special clone is an Ethos Crescendo RBXV2 what an amazing score from a great buddy. John Stonedwell
Hi folks. So I had my math wrong and didn't harvest any over the weekend. I am currently on day 59 of flower so starting this weekend the chop will begin with some selected ladies. Purple Queen and Uppercut first in line.. The Uppercut is blowing my mind with bud size and tricome development... I just wonder what it might have looked like if I added TopMax. Maybe something to consider for the next grow? John Stonedwell
Hi folks. Day 63 into flower and buds maturing really nicely. So I thought it best to ditch the "mature by eye" old school method. Since I can still learn much more. And rather use the little microscope I have to help me along the way.. I wil most likely start to harvest some ladies on 65 days and up. John Stonedwell
Day 65 into flower. Tricomes are for the most part cloudy/milky with no real amber yet except a few on the sugar leaves... So I thought this might make a good experiment to determine the amount of milky vs amber that I like for future runs. So I decided to chop the clones and leave the mothers for a couple more days.. Wedding Gelato clones will be chopped with the mothers. John Stonedwell
Day 69 into flower and most of the ladies got the chop today. I am very happy with how well they have progressed and definitely have some things I will adapt and change in the next run. Only plant still left to harvest is the Crescendo RBXV2 as I think she can still go a couple of days and drying space is limited. Hoping for a nice and slow dry of between 7 to 14 days followed by a dry trim. Bos
Looking very yummy. Any reason you prefer to dry trim? Tried it before and it was a pita. Prefer to wet trim and we also mist the buds with water before to prevent scissor hashing.
John Stonedwell
Hi @Bos I initially started with the wet trim but we live in Gauteng and tend to struggle with relatively low RH during summer and winter. So in order to prolong the drying period I moved over to a dry trim. One of the draw downs with wet trim is the excessive amount of resin sticking to the scissor when compared to dry trim. But to be honest I would love to try the bud misting wet trim once though. I also find that the dry trim allows for better curing while drying as there is more plant matter to systematically release moisture till you reach the perfect moisture content. And once you are in the groove of removing dried sugar leaves trimming turns out quite easy. Hoping this batch will do me justice but only time will tell... We are in opposite worlds hahaha. We have high RH here by the coast, takes 7 days easy....drying wet trimmed bud with 40w server fan for indirect ventilation. Like to trim and hang the whole tree, helps to dry the buds gradually all the way through.
