i actually feel the same way - to me, purple buds have a certain taste and smell...and i just dont like it

purple tones are great tho, specs here and there.. but all purple... leaves me less than satisfied.

this is somewhat comforting to read hahah I maybe smoked two purple strains that was good enough to remember, the rest all seemed to tickle the same dislike. 

a few being ones I have grown I always thought maybe I am doing something wrong to give it that taste and why it's not that potent but looks like it'll knock you out. 

never really tested to see if the green parts where better, but I found most of the buds that got light turn purple and the ones that don't like the lower buds stay greener. and they don't count

OG Kush - I really like this plant so far, the way it grows, the frost is decent (for an auto), the darker coloured bud looks great and makes the trichs pop. Even has a nice fade going.

 

 

Gelato - it takes it's time, at least this pheno does. Looking much better but I am hoping the buds will swell still and gain a bit of fatness.

 

Pluto cut - the leaves are quite peculiar in terms of their colour and the way they're dieing off. Seems alright but not quite exceptional, one of the larger autos out of this run.

 

LSD 25 - I like the colour. Quite leafy though.

 

 

The other smaller two auto's I ended up giving away.

 

@Ill_Evan how is your auto looking?  

You should be sending these pictures and your others to some of the seed company's whose stuff you've been growing. Trust me, tell them you want to be a tester and they will probably send you free seeds. Very impressive well done.

Eh, these were grown more for the fun of it and to see what some better autos could potentially do.

I doubt I'll be growing more autos anytime soon. I prefer my photoperiods and are rather specific with what I'll be growing going forward.
Not sure the breeders I want to grow strains from will be keen on just handing out their newer crosses for me to test, especially with me being all the way in sa and space is limited.
In the states the testers run way more plants than I'm capable of doing unfortunately.

So quick update now that I have had a chance to sample everything and finish trimming.

 

OG Kush - looks cool, smokes nicely, very nice night time smoke I find. Yield was good at just over 80g

 

Gelato - looks alright, what I would consider average in terms of frost. Smoke is decent. Nothing to write home about IMO though. Wouldn't mind it hitting a little harder or lasting a little longer. Yield was alright at just over 70g.

 

I need to still take pics of the LSD-25, however it surprised me yield wise as I got around 100g dry from it. Did not look as heavy as the scale said though, I weighed it more than once.

Smoke wise, it is ok but a little on the weaker side and was a bitch to trim due to the green leaves and purple bud and the bud structure which is shitty.

 

The Pluto Cut, smoke is not as bad as I thought it might be but it looks terrible, the smoke surprised me actually. The way it looks is my fault though, seems it died and I left it in the tent so the colour disappeared and frost isn't there at all.
