Good morning mense, I am getting prepped for another round of winter flowering. I took a few snaps last night, inside the veg room.

My biggest girls needed topping so I made a couple of clones too. 

This is my plant food, just chuck down a scoop full every two weeks and that's the feeding taken care of.

Half a scoop of gypsum to add calcium sulfate

I soaked the plugs overnight and took the cuts before I apply more ferts to the donor plants. I cut near the node, cover the end in hormone and push it into the plug.

Lid on for a week and a heat mat underneath.

Topped and fed

The ferts will get mixed in at the next watering. Today I am doing a bug spray, I alternate between neem oil and garlic for the pests and moulds.

Thanks for the comments, there are 3 phenos of Big Buddha Cheese. 2 clones of Dinafem hash plant x Blueberry and the seedlings are Ad Hoc x Malawi.

Hi there. My seedling starts are a bit hit and miss but I have managed to raise 5 young ones. More by luck, than any kind of skill I have developed they haven't died this time. Praise Jehovah and the Ganga gods for my good fortune, the best thing I can do is get them into bigger pots before I do something potentially lethal to the little things. 

I bought some mylar on Friday and while I was in the shop I got a packet of mycoroot too. I want to see for myself if it actually does anything beneficial to cannabis roots, or if it's just more snake oil from the grow shops. My plan is to dose 3 seedlings and leave the other 2 for control. 5 ml of granules in each pot.

I won't go heavy with the feed, but they can have a sprinkle of gypsum onto the surface to keep the going for now 

 

I added 20  ml mycoroot to one hash plant for a side by side comparison.

 

2 out of the 3 cheese clones have been dosed with 10 ml mycoroot sprinkled onto the surface.

 

I watered all the pots and also did a quick neem spray at 3 ml per litre. I moved the seedlings out the way because they are still a bit young for the heavy bug sprays.  I then sprayed all of the outside garden with a strong dose of funginex, because the PM is lurking around outdoors in the shady corners of the yard.

last week's neem spray was a bit heavy at 3 ml but the only bugs I can see now are fungus gnats. The leaves didn't like the spraying every 3 days but it seems to have broken the remaining mites and thrips. I cleaned up the bottom branches and will give a spray of fish mix next time.

On Tuesday I did a top feed of malted barley and on Thursday I did a light spray with kelpak at 0.5 ml. The seedlings all had the same dose too.

I took the lid off the clones today and noticed the first root poking through. Now the humidity is higher its a good time to harden them off before they get transplanted.

This weekend I must put up the rest of the mylar, before the irrigation gets put it into place.

I planted up my hash plants on Wednesday evening. One has mycoroot and the other without. Let's see if it makes any differenceTwo similar sized clones for the myco experiment.my seedlings are staring to pick up and are looking greener this week.new cuttings from the hash plant/blueberry girls.I put these two into some fresh soil and topped them up with some worm castings

I planted some raddish in the big pots and topped up with more worms and castings.

I topped the two hash plants and cleaned up the bottom branches. I put down some worm castings, along with some more gypsum and 5-3-5 granules. They were looking hungry so I gave 2 scoops of feed and one full scoop of gypsum, this time.

 I'm watering them once a day. I spray 500 ml onto each pot so that there isn't any runoff, I aim to keep the roots moist without them sitting in a damp puddle. The water is straight out of the tap and I don't ammend the pH.

@GGG Thanks for that, I will check out your diary too. I aim to try and make it low maintenance and keep the costs down at the same time. The worms keep busy in the pots and I put on the regular top feeds.

I mix together an even amount of worm castings with peat.

Then blend it in with a 5 kg brick of coco.

This week I managed to burn my 2 hash plant cuttings, so I scraped off the top dressing and just gave them plain water. Playing around with different soils for the cuttings. This one is in Best Green peat mossAll the young ones before I topped them.The 2 big ones are nearly ready to flip over to 12/12.A new mix for clones and seeds. 4 parts coco 2 parts Best Green and 1 part perlite.

Today the seedlings all got topped.

 

I spouted 6 out of 6. I put the between a damp tissue and put the them by the heater. Within 48 hours they all cracked and today I put them into pots of the seedling mix.

Choc Gelato, Palomino, Double Sunset and Tortoni.

I've trained all the girls in the big pots this weekI hadto raise the lights to fit the cages over the girlsThis one is growing nicelyAll the youngest ones are coming along.I clones the seed plants to identify their sexThe cheese pheno hunt is now in phase 2. All 3 big Buddha plants have now got some daughters.2 weeks since the last feed. 1 teaspoon of gypsum and one tablespoon of 5 3 5.2 out of 6 fems have made itmore pruning and trainingLush green and happy plants.

Sheesh that is a lot of life. What’s your watering/humidity like to grow that above the soil ?

I know it's a good thing seeing mycelium ontop of your soil, but you do know if the mold grows faster and is more dominant than the plant it will consume the plant aswell?

Humidity has been up to 80%, while it rains and I haven't watered these seedlings since transplant (about 10 days). That layer of fungi eventually forms a crust on top of the pot. The roots pull up and grow directly underneath the crust.

@Naughty.Psychonauthi, thanks for the reply. Chlorine is an essential nutrient for plants, they need it in tiny amounts. There simply isn't enough chlorine in tap water, to do any harm to the soil life.

These filaments start growing when I top dress with malted barley. From what I understand, the barley contains over 100 strains of beneficial fungi aswell as enzymes to support plant growth and suppress the harmful stuff like pythium.

80 is low, I think you mean 80ppm - which sounds about right.

When I last tested my tap water it was 79ppm.

Interesting, malted barley. So I assume it would not actually sprout as it is malted, although it contains beneficial fungi still.

Where did you source it from BTW?

In the malting house they germinate the seeds and then put in in an oven to halt the growth, before the tap root sprouts. It is loaded up to the gills with beneficial fungi and growth promoting enzymes.

I got it from a brew supply store, in Belville. Unfortunately they closed down last year, though any brewery supplier will have it. This one is malted for pilsner lager, but you could use any of them.

I wonder if one would still get the benefits if you were to mix it into the medium as opposed to sprinkling it on the top?

 

At the moment I only use a myco & trich powder which I add when potting the cuttings or seedlings.

this is really good to know!!!

 when I hear "tap water" it's like an alarm goes off. "dechlorinate! dechlorinate! dechlorniate!" what the hell was that all about? why are people always talking bout dechlorinating your tap water for your cannabis plants? would you say it's just misinformation?
