420SA
Day 45 The decline continued since my last update. As I'm sure many could see was gonna be the case. This is definitely the last time I grow in plastic pots beyond the seedling stage. That, and I need to sort out my potting regime. I keep underestimating root growth and allowing the plants to get root bound (see below) as a result the plants look like shite now. It's still manageable at this stage though and if this new soil doesn't incinerate these plants I'll see them bounce back nicely. I went ahead and repotted into 40L fabric pots yesterday afternoon. A few days to settle into the new pots and I'll start some training

420SA
Day 56 ( Flower Day 5 ) Alright fellas sorry for my absence! Went away for the weekend to fish for some troots. Was actually meant to update on Friday but it totally slipped my mind while packing and all. My apologies.... and even though I wasn't competing in the first place I have disqualified myself... but am allowed to continue growing and post updates... So this soil is evidently still undercooked and even though the plants are recovering to some extent, I'm not seeing the burst of healthy growth I would usually see once the plants go into the super soil. As I say they are improving, but slowly and much behind the pace. Soil PH may not be the best at this point. Hopefully as we progress it will improve. It's at least manageable. I switched to 12/12 on Friday 2nd of July. They are still in the veg tent under the MH running 12/12 now. Tonight I'm going to clean the flower tent and transfer the plants into there. The pic below was taken on Thursday last week (day 51). I will post some updated pics tonight when lights are on. Updated pics to come tonight
420SA
A quick question for the soil gurus... What do you reckon happened to my plants in veg? What could have caused that decline? Were they left in those pots for too long? Did they get root bound or are there other factors to consider such as not enough available nutes. Should I have fed? Then there was a clear stretching situation. The internodal spacing was hectic and defs not normal. Was the 400w bulb I switched to buggered? I changed back to the 250W about a week and a half ago and noticed the internodal spacing seemed to return to normal.
The_StonedTrooper
Sounds like your bulb was bad, they at most last 2 grows, or 12 months. I'll read your thread and see what I can see on the soil side and come back to you.
The_StonedTrooper
Cannabis and plastic pots, I feel are no good, especially after seedling stage. The pots, green ones, on the first stretch, are from roots turning at the bottom, and I get the same, if left too long. Then on Day 41, you had that issue of root damage or should I say shock, and root bound. On Day 45, you see the roots choking themselves, from plastic pots. The roots will always go to most moist place, and that on a plastic pot is the very bottom, and you'll always get that slight overwater issue on the bottom, essentially if the roots are cramped in there. Check how brown the bottom edge roots are. Didnt see a feeding schedule, did you ever do Microbe inoculations? Yip no more plastic pots for me! 1 hour ago, The_StonedTrooper said: Didnt see a feeding schedule, did you ever do Microbe inoculations? I dont feed unless I see the plant is lacking, especially in veg. I just use fulvic, humic and innoculate with explogrow every 4th watering.
The_StonedTrooper
They dont look hungry, could use a little N, but not needed. Definitely the lack of air in the moisture from plastic pots indoors, and the roots. Change the bulb too

Its very easy to do, I also have a heavy hand, but if the Pot is raised up and never sitting in its drain water this can help to improve things. Or try not watering till run off. Little and often will discourage the roots from dropping straight to the bottom.
420SA
Here are the plants prior to being moved over to the flower tent (taken tonight) Into their new home they went. Added another 400w hps to the already existing 400w hps. Did a spot of supercropping

420SA
Flower Day 26 Going pretty well thus far through flower. The plant in the middle has been quite a stretcher so I've been having a tough time taming her. Supercropped one of the branches too aggressively and caused it to collapse quite badly, to a point that it can't right itself properly. Will probably need to stake it later on but it's fine now. She's occupying quite a lot of lateral space which I suppose isn't such a bad thing. My favoured pheno right now is Tortoni #2, pictured far right in the below pic. She has the best looking bud development so far. Tortoni #2 (best pheno so far) Tortoni #3 (stretchy one) Tortoni #1 I watered with something a little different last night.... unfermented beer, known as wort. Beer brewing has 3 steps, the mash, the boil and then fermentation. The mash is where you extract all the starches from the malted grain and have the starch converted to sugar by keeping the grains steeped in water within a specific temp range. I had a little excess liquid leftover from the mash I did on the weekend so I thought it would be a good idea to throw this into the next watering. Plenty of good enzymes in there, plus a bit of sugar for the microlife, can only do good I reckon. Two hobbies working in harmony lol 10
420SA
Flower Day 41 My humblest apologies for this very late update. Things have been very busy outside the grow room with work, family over and such. A deficiency started to creep in since my last update and fan leaves began to yellow from the bottom up. All 3 showed the issue in sync which to me maybe suggests that I did something wrong that previous watering... perhaps that unfermented beer idea backfired and threw PH off perhaps, who knows.... won't do that again then... anyway it looked like a clear Mg def to me so reached for the Epsom salts on a watering a few days ago and they seem to be responding well to it. Tonight I watered with coconut water for an added boost. Top dressed with a bit of alfalfa as well. Tortoni #2 is still looking the best and she is starting a decent stack (pictured far left below). She is developing the tightest nugs of the 3 so far no doubt and from a preliminary guess she looks like she'll finish sooner than the other 2. The other 2 seem to be putting out more sativa-like buds, especially #3 (far right). I haven't checked other guys diaries in a while so if no one is else is seeing buds like this then there must be other factors that have caused it. #1 does look like she is just about to put on a lot more weight though... Tortoni #2 Tortoni #1 Tortoni #3 Cheers for now! 8

420SA
Today is Flower Day 60 These pics were taken on Flower Day 57 (Friday 27 Aug) but will try my best to post pics from today later Below is Tortoni #2 and #3. I'm not gonna bother with #1 as she's a bit of runt and a bit nasty compared to these 2. I'd say #2 is just about finished. She has started to foxtail slightly but not bad at all. I'll be checking her trichs tonight #2 #3 7 1
