CG420za
Awe guys. So this is whats going down at the moment. Popped the bean in water on 24/09, dropped in coco/perlite mix on the 26/09. Sprouted on 28/09. The most recent pics were taken 2 hours ago. I'm on the 12/1 light cycle, shot @Toby for the inspiration Lights on at night for more control. The LED's raise the ambient temp by 2 degrees max and RH ranges between 40 and 65%. So I'm happy with that. For feeding I'm using the "Lucas Formula" and Nutriplex. Shot @cheese420 for that, she's responding perfectly to it AND here's your grow log If you've noticed that the bottom leaves are a bit fooked, that's because the initial nute mix (Nutriplex seedling mix on the chart) was a bit on the strong side for her. Currently she's still getting half strength mix (Lucas), which will be bumped up by the weekend. Also, she's not yellow, it's the lights ouens. To the mense who can shed some light without throwing shade, when do you feed silica and amino acids and how often?
Guest alemo
Don't use the lucas formula with Nutriplex. It isn't ideal. You especially want the gro's K. Silica foliar spray every 10 days or so, never in flower, and amino once a week. Get some Kelpak too.
CG420za
Awe @alemo, shot for the input. So what do you think? Half strength of the recommended veg feed? I'm thinking of doing a full strength feed following the lucas formula, just to see what happens. If it doesn't work, i can always move back to the original chart while there aren't any major issues. cheese420
From what I know the Lucas fomula aims to achieve certain NPK ratios outlined by Mel Frank? For coco its slightly modified as mentioned by h3ad in this thread https://www.icmag.com/ic/showthread.php?t=55683 Using nutriplex with the Cannastats calculator attached, the ratios are pretty similar especially in the K department though.... Not sure if Nutriplex has been updated since I used their guaranteed analysis from a few years back but according to that it should be quite ideal for it surely? Guest alemo
^^ The easiest way is to look at ghe and see what they put in each bottle, then see what you'll lose with lucas and nutriplex.
cheese420
Ah...alright....Yeah I just went with Lucas formula and the Nutriplex since at the time it was the only thing available With the EHG, hortishop still cannot provide the guaranteed analysis and I have been on their case about it....All they have said is that they did try make it as a replica of GHE
Sacred Seeds
@CK Your setup is looking good! Sadly my seeds that was shipped nearly 30 days ago never arrived. I'm assuming that Capemail got hold of it. Don't know if I should order from Bonza again or try a different seed bank. Anyway, did you order directly from Kaliman seeds? CG420za
Thanks @alemo, I'll look into it. SSA, I bought that seed from GSR last year sometime. Maybe try bonza again but send it to someone outta the western cape and have them courier it down. So I potted this little bitch up today, she's got quite a root ball going... Hopefully she won't suffer any adverse effects.

Dabtzar
Root porn Did you use any kelpak or amino?
CG420za
Awe, thanks guys. @Dabztar, just Nutriplex with the Lucas Formula. I added some mycorrhizal fungi to the coco before I dropped the seed. Did the same with the pot up.
Dabtzar
Ahh yes the good old Myco.. keep us posted..
CG420za
@Dabtzar, you're supposed to pot up when the roots appear out the bottom of your pot right? I transplanted on wednesday. I have a few root out the bottom already. Thoughts?
Dabtzar
Yea so I look for a root to poke out then I will wait like an extra week or so before re-potting. But don't be scared to take her out the pot to look at the roots before re potting....
CG420za
Small update, check how fast these roots grew. Transplant from a 2 inch to 6 inch pot on 19/10, 1st roots appeared out the bottom on the 21/10. This pic was taken on the 23/10. She's been growing fast since the pot change and full strength feed. Quick question, I'm gonna top her tonight. She's at node 6 now, I wanna mainline her. I've read that I should top at node 3. Can't I top at node 6 seeing as she's so short? I have more than enough vertical space. Thoughts ouens?
cheese420
Ah roots really do enjoy coco! Hmm I dont know much about the mainlining but I am all for you topping her at node
Guest alemo
Is she that light green? Or is that just the hps? Looks like she needs some Mg
CG420za
She's green sir. It's the LED. 3500K. One of the earlier pics in this post shows her real colour.
Guest alemo
3500? How bizarre. Why not 2100/2700? Earlier pictures still make me think she needs something?
CG420za
The 3500K LED cobs have enough blue for veg and enough red for flowering, so I don't have to change out my light. Something like?
Budwizer
Nitrogen
CG420za
@Budwizer, I think you're wrong mate. My leaves are green, stems are green. my plant looks nothing like the google images of a nitrogen deficiency. I'll watch it, just in case something happens. @cheese420, I did some more reading up on the mainlining technique, you have to top at the 3rd node, but last night when I checked, topping at #3 would leave a moerse hole in the stem coz it's gone nice and thick, so I topped at #5 instead. Once the new tops are established, I'll chop everything below and start the LST.
cheese420
Awe sounds like a plan! Lol I just said 6th node for the hell of it..just wanted u to top early
CG420za
Righto boys and girls, update time... So tonight I cut up my baby, for the greater good I hope. Training method I'm using is mainlining and LST. Check my naked lady. 4 weeks old and going strong. I took 3 cuttings, fingers crossed as it's my 1st attempt.
